Dropbox is a better way to share files between different users and different computers. It beats FTP for large files and email for pretty much any attachments. I use to exchange videos, graphics and presentations with clients and my subcontractors.
Once everyone is set up on DropBox, it’s like having a file server folder that works but one that works over the internet.
Dropbox supports Linux, Mac and PC. The easiest way to use it is to install a client on your PC. This puts a Dropbox folder on your computer and you can synchronise files simply by dragging files into it.
It also has a web interface. If you access the web browser on an iPhone, you get a special iPhone version of the site. It seems to work with anything.
It’s free for 2GB of storage and $99 a year for a massive 50GB. Go to www.getdropbox.com.

Is the 99$ for 50GB a one-time fee, or something you have to renew periodically ?
It’s an annual fee.
Matthew, why do you like dropbox better than ftp? I’m so used to http://ftp... and I’ve managed to teach most of my clients how to use it.

There are some security issues with FTP but the big issue is really usability. DropBox is really easy to use.
We use FTP and Sugar Sync. I haven’t heard of drop box. I may use it for my home/personal computer. Thanks for sharing!
I’ve been using Dropbox for a few months now and I’ve been really impressed.
I mainly use it to back up my work, and haven’t used it to share things with clients at all.
However, I’ve found the app you install on your computer works flawlessly (famous last words). And the web interface means I always have access to all my documents, even if I’m nowhere near my PC.
It gets a definite thumbs up.
