Work-blog balance

by Matthew Stibbe on April 25, 2006

I’ve posted more or less every day since I started this blog back in January. In the last couple of weeks it’s been a lot harder to maintain the rhythm. In part I’ve been getting busier and busier (good) but this means less and less bandwidth for things other than paid work. I really enjoy doing the blog and I think it’s helping me improve as a writer because I can practice writing about things I’m passionate about in a conversational way. I wonder how other people manage to balance blogging and everyday life.

I use my smartphone to post entries to my blog. I can very quickly get info up there from anywhere – it helps kill “dead” time – time otherwise spent doing nothing useful. I often make posts when following my girlfriend the shops at the weekend :-) .

Like James, I’m an avid mobile blogger though on my MSN Space rather than my corporate blog – hopefully we’ll enable that soon. I also read a lot of blogs when mobile using Newsbreak for my Smartphone.
