I get a lot of press releases from companies related to aviation. Mainly this is because I go to trade events like the Farnborough and Paris airshows. However, it does mean I get some odd stuff in my in-tray, like this email that came through today from analysts Forecast International.
NEWTOWN, Conn. [January 16, 2006] ― Production of airborne and land/sea-based radars will generate $24.6 billion over the next 10 years, according to Forecast International’s “The Market for Radar Systems.” The analysis projects that the segment’s top five companies – Raytheon, Northrop Grumman, MEADS International, Thales, and Rockwell International – will garner roughly $12 billion during this forecast timeframe, representing 49 percent of the total 10-year market.
What I like about it is that it is very cleanly written. I think that the average reader of the Economist or Financial Times would read this opening paragraph and understand exactly what it was saying, even if they didn’t know their J/STARS from their SBR. It is factual, well-structured and answers all the questions it provokes. It doesn’t use jargon or hype. It couldn’t be bettered as an advert for the report itself and as an example of their analytical thinking.
