Microsoft Word 2007 as a blogging tool

by Matthew Stibbe on January 31, 2007

I’m testing the new ‘post-from-Word’ feature in Microsoft Word 2007. My main concern is to see if Word inserts its usual HTML spam and to see whether pictures upload okay. As I type this, it looks a lot like Office Live Writer but with all the extra tools of Word (such as a spell checker that knows about British English).

So, did it work? What did the code look like?

It seems to work OK, but apparently automatically includes a picture of Office Word 2007 with every post…

    The code was completely clean.

The picture of Word was added by myself, not by the software!

Blog-posting functionality is something I’d love to see added to Open Office.

Used to be one word processor was enough. On a regular basis, I’m now using Open Office for regular projects, Live Writer for blogs, Copywriter for jobs requiring character counts (PPC), and Google Docs for group projects.

    Will the madness ever end?
