Summer Internship at Articulate Marketing

by Matthew Stibbe on May 1, 2010

I am looking for a summer intern to join Articulate Marketing for 4-8 weeks this summer. This position is aimed at students on relevant degree courses; e.g. journalism, business, marketing, history* etc.

What you will get

  • Mentoring from me in copywriting, marketing and online social media
  • A chance to work with brand name clients, including Microsoft, HP and Symantec
  • Real responsibility for real work
  • An appraisal and written feedback at the end of the internship
  • A great reference for your CV
  • £200 per week

What you will do

  • Draft, proofread and/or fact check case studies, white papers, press releases etc.
  • Work with me to improve Articulate’s positioning and brand promise
  • Write copy for the new Articulate website and help oversee its development
  • Write copy for blogs, including the company blog
  • Attend client meetings with me, where appropriate
  • Help me write marketing plans for various projects
  • Support marketing activities, for example booking event locations and sending out invitations

What I am looking for

  • Fluent written and spoken English
  • Evidence of good writing skills
  • Good personal IT skills; you can use web applications, Skype, Word, Excel etc. without hand-holding
  • Familiarity with the world of business and IT; most of my clients are big IT firms
  • Personal attributes including: attention to detail, academic excellence, curiosity, self-motivation and self-organisation
  • You will need somewhere to work, a computer with a broadband connection and the ability to use Skype

What you should know

  • Articulate Marketing is a small, entrepreneurial company so this is an informal programme that will suit a rugged individualist rather than a corporate clone wannabe.
  • I expect you to work (very) hard but this isn’t an office job. You will be working remotely – at home, if you like – most of the time and coming here to West London one or two days a week for meetings. We will use Skype, phone and email to communicate.
  • It would help if you were in the London area but for an exceptional candidate, I am also open to working with you, wherever you are based.

How to apply

* I’m a historian by training so I automatically assume that it’s the perfect qualification for my job.

I’m a historian by training too, so I quite naturally agree.
