Pick of the web
- Great Mistakes in Technical Leadership. I liked this very much. I’ve made all these mistakes so I know it is true.
- 100 Rules for NASA Project Managers also work for non-rocket scientists.
- Why Windows Vista is slipping: an interesting article from an insider.
- The Buddha’s SEO. Funny.
- What to write when you don’t know what to write. Seth Godin asks why people put things like “So kick back, have a look around, and stay awhile” on a tech support page. My favourite is when websites see “Hello” or “Welcome to…” Completely redundant. It’s not 1994 any more.
- I’m a dumbass. A professional PR admits a mistake. Kudos. Unique.
- Your passion is our problem. Nancy Friedman on corporate abuse of the word “Passion.” I wish I’d thought of this post!

Thanks for the link Matthew.
People, even journalists, tend to be nicer when you admit mistakes and show you’re trying.
I left a reply to your comment on “Your Passion is Our Problem.” I emphatically agree on the “solutions” over use. Yuck.

You’re absolutely right. I can think of several occasions where a PR firm has compounded a relatively minor problem by a studied refusal to admit they had done anything wrong or any apology. Not admitting mistakes looks arrogant. Doing so looks human.
