Pick of the web (15 September 2006)

  • The Aviation Instructor’s Handbook from the FAA by way of Kevin Kelly’s Cool Tool site. My experience of flying instructors (see my other blog: ModernPilot.com) is that a good instructor is a great teacher. This book encapsulates some of the reasons why and can be applied to any training task. For me learning to fly was one of the best things I did – it taught me that I can learn big, new things. It’s nice to see other people recognise this.
  • Cyberseat. Continuing my quest for the most outrageous USB device, this really takes the biscuit. It’s an all-singing, all-dancing, moving seat for gamers. Ideal for driving and flight simulators.
  • Why smart companies do dumb things from Guy Kawasaki. As so often happens with Guy, I agree with every word and wish I had thought of writing this post.
  • More great diagrams from Signal vs. Noise. Sometimes, I wish I was a cool graphic designer instead of a writer schlub.
