Phishing is on the rise. The Anti-Phishing Working Group found 9,666 fake websites in March alone. It is also getting increasingly hard to detect, however sophisticated you are. (See my previous post: Why phishing works for the background).
Want to test your ability to spot a fake? Take MailFrontier’s online quiz.
I think anti-phishing software is now as much of a requirement as a firewall or antivirus software. So, here are my four top recommendations:
- ScanDoo sits on top of Google or MSN Search and warns you about dodgy sites.
- CloudMark Desktop ($40) can help block phishing emails and their Anti-fraud Toolbar (free beta) can do the same thing for websites.
