April has been a crazy month. I figured that I had written close to 30,000 words and had only taken one day off in the whole month (to fly down to Devon and review the New Angel restaurant for ModernPilot.com).

I’ve written two newsletters, at least ten case studies, website copy for one client and a proposal for the redesign of another client’s website. I like being busy but I don’t like the way that being busy gives me tunnel vision and I lose the time and energy to do anything else.
At the climax of this crazy month my PC decided to crash irretrievably. Going into safe mode, recovery mode, running disk checks and so on didn’t help and I had to install a new hard disk and rebuild the entire operating system and my entire working environment from scratch. I’m pretty sure it wasn’t a virus, more likely some disk problem that corrupted a critical part of the operating system (it would get half-way through the boot and stop). It’s typical of computers to do this at the exact worst moment.

Luckily no data was lost - it’s all stored safely on a highly-backed-up server. Just another wasted weekend fiddling with my computer. I bet Shakespeare’s quill never crashed. Anyhow, normal Bad Language service will resume now and I’m sorry for the dearth of postings over the past few weeks.
