Lost in translation: lessons in proofreading

Mis-translated bilingual road sign

According to the BBC, the English on this sign is clear enough but the Welsh reads "I am not in the office at the moment. Send any work to be translated."

    That’s an old one. Probably one of the best translation bloopers…

    Yes, it’s old. But for some reason pops up in the BBC’s most shared and most read articles again and again every couple of month.

    Looks like the Welsh translator was looking for free advertising. Pity he forgot to leave contact details…
