If you want a kick-ass PC for writing, this is it. I’m seriously in love.
Full disclosure: HP is my client at Articulate and they paid me to make this video but the opinions are my own.

I remember when Steve Jobs introduced the Next cube; it was breathtakingly pretty, but the thing I noticed most was the single cable running from the cube to the monitor (which also ran the keyboard, mouse, etc).
That’s one of the things that makes the Z1 droolable, though I wonder about those monitor-edge USB ports; a cable sprouting from the side of the monitor could look a little odd.
Do they ship it with Linux? Too bad…
Yes having a single power cable is incredibly neat and tidy – you should see my desktop! With the Z1, the keyboard and mouse are wireless so that’s it. Also, it has a Wi-Fi adapter built-in so you don’t need to have a network cable if you don’t want to. There are a bunch of USB, Ethernet etc. sockets underneath the case as well as the ones on the side so if one had stuff that needed to be permanently attached, you could run the cables in alongside the power cable and still keep it tidy. As for Linux, there’s an optional HP Linux Installer Kit and you can get it with SUSE Linux Enterprise Desktop 11 which I guess would be certified for the system. It’s a very nice computer indeed and I’m seriously thinking of switching my five-year old custom-build for one.
