Hall of Pants #1: Flash Intro Animations

by Matthew Stibbe on January 21, 2006

DRP Group’s website has a flash intro animation.

There is no ‘skip animation’ button. There isn’t even an ‘kill the website designer’ button.

In my opinion flash intro animations are a cardinal sin of website design. They are a waste of money and they waste the visitor’s time. It also sucks if you’re visually impaired. Not having a ‘skip animation’ button turns a disaster into a nightmare.

I had to visit this site twice to check some facts for an article I was writing. I didn’t want to see the intro the first time but being forced to sit through it the second time was excruciating.

Shame on you, web designer. You should know better.
