Good service from Amazon

by Matthew Stibbe on February 13, 2007

Amazon Logo After last year’s Xbox 360 debacle, I have to report that Amazon UK has really done the right thing today.  I ordered a memory stick to run on my Vista PC as a ReadyBoost cache.  It was supposed to arrive on Saturday morning by Special Delivery but didn’t.  The Post Office claim that it did but can’t provide a signature or proof of delivery.

I went to Amazon UK’s contact us page and clicked the button to get a call back. They rang immediately and I pressed 8 to speak to a person.  After a couple of rings, a woman answered, refunded the special delivery charge and placed a new order on the system to be delivered tomorrow.  It took less than four minutes.

oh wow! But then again I’ve only had good experiences with Amazon (.com in that case) (like re-sending a bunch of books the local DHL had ‘lost’ & delivered after 2 months…)

For the last three years or so, I’ve bought almost everything I need from Amazon. In that time I’ve only had to call customer service once. And the rep there fixed my problem in less than five minutes.
