Matt, as one of the bloggers who tagged you, I apologize. I agree completely with you about chain letters.

Because the person who tagged me had made such good use of the prompt, I forwarded it totally without thought. That was wrong, and I'm sorry.

Thanks for the lesson!

[...] Tip of the cap, Lauren. Thanks for the tag. It’s always nice to be included. She owns 186 pairs of shoes! And I thought I was a fashionista. Good lord. However, much like Matthew Stibbe, it’s just a little too “chain e-mail” for me. I’m not big on narcissism, which is why I don’t have any pictures of myself on my blog. It’s something I’ve though of doing, but just never felt strongly enough for it. [...]

AMEN! I refuse even to read any blog entry that's posted to participate in the "100 things about me" or any other chain letter garbage - by whatever name it's called. Thank you, Matthew, for your stance on this.

I'm with Nancy - I'd never usually take part, but this one got me going. Probably the one time in my life...

On the good sid, if it weren't for this, I might not have stopped over here and caught your great web 2.0 apps you use every day (mines similar).

Mea maxima culpa, Matt! I read that post of yours and it slipped my mind. I loathe chain mail, too, but this one caught me at an indulgent moment.

Congratulations, you had the courage to stand up and say "no" to those vicious chain mail memes flying around the blogosphere! Way to go, Matt, you're my hero.

I just hope you don't grow a third arm or something...

Really, it's like those "100 things about me" posts you see a lot of to mark the first 100 days or first 100 posts to their blog. Good gosh, I'm a total stranger - why should I care? When I hit my 100th post, I just said "no" to that, too. (Sorry about the gratuitous self-promotion; my cat made me do it.)

It brings to mind John Koetsier's post today on a recent study that seems to illustrate how so many people are sharing astoundingly inappropriate information on the internet - and eveyone's OK with it! Amazing.
